This variety of red grape is the less spread out in vineyards on the OJ Rioja, nor is cultivated in a meaningful way in other areas. The Contino would be the most aromatic of all varieties grown in La Rioja.

The Graciano grape gives rise to highly prized wines. The young wines of Graciano are very tannic and harsh, though undergo a tremendous development during ageing in wood and bottle. Therefore are include in the great reserves of Rioja and Navarre.
